With low mammalian toxicity, zero VOCs, and quick-drying properties, our treatment is safe to use in residential homes, commercial buildings, and heritage properties.
Treating woodworm early prevents expensive repairs later, helps retain the property’s integrity, and protects your long-term investment.
We use treatments that meet the highest safety and performance standards in the industry (BS EN certification), ensuring reliable and professional results.

What Is Woodworm?

Despite the name, woodworm isn’t a worm at all – it’s the larval stage of several species of wood-boring beetles. These beetles lay their eggs in small cracks or old exit holes in timber. Once the eggs hatch, the larvae burrow through the wood, feeding and tunnelling for several years until they mature into adult beetles. When they emerge, they leave small, round exit holes in the wood – a telltale sign of infestation. One of the most common culprits in UK properties is the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum). Left untreated, an active woodworm infestation can weaken structural timber, floorboards, roof trusses, joists, and even antique furniture – sometimes leading to significant repair costs or safety risks.

Our Woodworm Treatment Process

At West Wales Property Maintenance, our trained specialists will carry out a detailed inspection to assess the extent of the infestation and determine the most effective treatment plan. We use a water-based microemulsion insecticide that is certified to BS EN industry standards. This advanced formula:
The treatment is applied directly to affected timber and surrounding areas, soaking deep into the wood to kill larvae and protect against future attack.
